QuickFolder is a small INIT that adds a New Folder button to the standard save dialog. It is useful when you want to save a document in a new folder. To install QuickFolder, place it in your system folder and restart your Mac.
When you press the New Folder button, you will be presented with a dialog asking for the name of your folder. The folder will be created within the folder currently displayed in the save dialog.
When you create a new folder, you can choose to move into the folder, which means that the standard file box will disappear momentarily and reappear ready to save within the folder you just created. The standard file dialog will also disappear momentarily if you are using a system version lower than 4.1. If you choose the Move Into New Folder option or use an older system, be sure to select any special save options (like Text Only in Word) AFTER the new folder has been created, otherwise some applications become confused.
QuickFolder works fine with all the applications I've tried except for MacWrite, which presents only a small problem. If you are using MacWrite with system 4.1, choose Move Into New Folder or the list of files may not be redisplayed properly.
One last caveat. If you create folders from within a desk accessory running under the finder, you may not be able to throw the contents of the folder away until after you have run an application.
QuickFolder is distributed as shareware. If you keep it in your System Folder, you are obliged to send $5 to
